The weather has improved - travel is on our minds - so should safety!
Prepare Your Home Before Leaving Home:
·
Turn Up the Lights on your home
exterior to provide a safe late night return environment.
·
Lock It, but be able to get out. Remember to lock your doors and windows, but
make sure everyone can open all locks from the inside of your home. Don’t have deadbolt locks that lock with an
inside key – if lost, you would be unable to leave during a fire or emergency.
·
Don’t help
intruders – keep shrubs trimmed under windows so burglars can’t hide.
·
Use
timers on lights and/or a radio to mimic “at home” behavior.
·
Unplug most electrical
items to prevent fires caused by lightening storms & electrical surges.
